Members of the UPS meet monthly to share experiences and information. These meetings feature speakers giving programs of interest to underwater photographers. Most meetings also include a workshop and a club competition featuring slides, prints, digital projection, and video.
The meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month except December and January.
The meeting location is the Times Mirror room in the L.A. County Museum of Natural History, 900 Exposition Blvd, Los Angeles, California.
Most meetings start with a workshop at 7:00 pm, and the meeting starts at 7:30 pm. The workshop is presented by members to share details and basic information on U/W photography subjects. See the calendar for more information.
We're always looking for good workshop ideas. Please contact our workshop chair, Tony Frank.
Meeting directions:
- Exit the Harbor Freeway (110) at Exposition Boulevard off ramp.
- Go west on Exposition until you come to the Natural History Building on the south side of Exposition. You have to go past it to make a U-turn as there is a divider in the middle of the street. Watch out for dinosaurs as you make the U-turn.
- Park in the staff parking lot off Exposition. It is marked and is behind a small fence. You can see the staff parking lots on the north side of the building if you go to the google map linked below and zoom in on the satellite image. As of summer 2007, the eastern of the two lots is under construction, use the western lot. Enter that lot from Menlo Ave.
- Enter through the staff entrance, down the stairs near the wall.
- Sign in with the guard and follow the directions to the Times/Mirror room (go to the end of the hallway, take a right, and go straight ahead down a long hall and all the way to the back of the hall of early California history)
